“Breastfeeding, The Best and Earliest Healthy Start for Children”

Dr. O

Choosing to breastfeed your baby gives your baby the best and earliest healthy start in life. Breastfeeding is a wonderful way to bond with your baby. Breast milk has antibodies that can prevent your baby from getting sick and it has all the nutrients your baby needs to grow and develop. It can help prevent against health problems in your baby such as allergies, eczema, ear infections and stomach problems. Breastfed babies are also less likely to be obese or have diabetes.

Breastfeeding has benefits for mothers as well. Mothers who breastfeed find it easier to lose weight after pregnancy and it may help lower their risk of breast and ovarian cancers and other diseases. Breastfeeding is the natural, healthy choice for both mom and baby.

At Nature Coast Women’s Care, we want you to know that we are here to answer any questions you have regarding breastfeeding your baby and to get you connected with local support groups to help you maximize the benefits of breastfeeding.

Should pregnant women in Tallahassee be worried about the Zika Virus?

Zika TallahasseeYou may have heard about the Zika virus in the news lately. We asked our own Dr. O what Tallahassee women, especially those who are or are about to become pregnant, should know about this virus.

Dr. Okoroji of Nature Coast Women’s Care in Tallahassee, FL, says right now there are no known cases in Tallahassee or in the State of Florida that anyone has been infected with the Zika Virus. The Zika Virus is a mosquito-borne flavivirus transmitted primarily by the bite of infected Aedes mosquitoes. Given the mobile nature of people traveling this could change.

Dr. Okoroji says, “I recommend that travelers going to South and Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean Islands where the virus transmission is predominant take precautions when visiting. If you are pregnant, try to avoid traveling to the places Zika Virus transmission is ongoing if possible. If it’s not possible to avoid those places, then they should adhere to the CDC guidelines that have been released for traveling in those areas. Please be aware of the symptoms of the Zika Virus and contact your Doctor if you become ill.”

"I really love the Nature Coast Family!"

Tenicia Colvin Writes:

“My experience was amazing! I went in with a little reservation regarding the pain and over results once the procedure was complete, but Dr. O helped to relieve me of my fear. The way he handled the procedure caused me minimal pain and the end result is exactly as he said it would be. Thanks Dr. O!”

"I cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr. Okoroji."
